Shilla Bakery Opens Doors on Maple Avenue, Bringing a Delicious Blend of Cultures to Vienna – Town of Vienna Public Information

Vienna residents have a new reason to indulge their sweet tooth: Shilla Bakery officially opened on July 30 at 340 Maple Avenue West, celebrated with a lively ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local officials, neighbors, and friends.

This family-owned bakery is a special addition to Vienna’s vibrant Maple Avenue scene, offering a unique mix of Korean baking traditions, classic French pastry techniques, and a dash of American creativity. The Yu family, who first opened their original Korean bakery in Annandale back in 1999, are behind the new shop. That year was especially memorable as it was also the birth year of Michelle Yu, now the talented pastry chef leading the Vienna location.

Michelle, a graduate of the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris, is infusing the bakery with fresh ideas and seasonal treats that reflect her global training and family heritage. “My dad always said this would be a 100-year business,” Michelle said at the opening. “I’m proud to carry on the tradition.”

Visitors to Shilla Bakery can expect to find a delicious variety of breads, cakes, and pastries that fuse flavors from Korea, France, and America. The menu will regularly change with the seasons, and fall favorites like butterscotch, apple, and pumpkin spice treats are already on the way.

Shilla Bakery invites the Vienna community to stop by, taste their offerings, and become part of this family’s sweet story. Shilla Bakery is located at 340 Maple Avenue West, Vienna, VA 22180.

On August 10, 2025, NOVA Rugby proved that the only thing scarier than facing the Chicago Lions is being down 14 points at halftime… and still somehow thinking, “Yeah, we’ve got this.” And they did. With three tries in the second half, NOVA flipped a 0–14 hole into a 15–14 victory, leaving Chicago looking like they’d just been tackled by a freight train disguised as a rugby club.
