This summer, the Commanders Camp for Kids offers young athletes in the D.C. area an exciting, non-competitive youth football experience inspired by the Washington Commanders. The camp, hosted in the greater D.C. region (including Northern Virginia), is instructional, blending skill development and physical activity with an emphasis on fundamentals, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in a supportive, pressure-free environment.
Participants are grouped by age and skill level to ensure appropriate and engaging instruction. Camp sessions typically include:
- Football fundamentals like passing, catching, route running, and tackling technique
- Position-specific drills for various roles
- Speed and agility training
- Team-building activities
- Non-contact skill work for younger age groups, prioritizing safety
Coaches, including experienced youth trainers and occasional former/current Commanders personnel, offer a professional-level connection.
Beyond football, Commanders Camp emphasizes confidence and character. Parents favor the program for promoting activity, friendship, discipline, goal-setting, structured athletic exposure, and serving as a fun introduction to organized football.
Most Commanders Camps are open to boys and girls in elementary through middle school age ranges, and no prior football experience is required, making it accessible for both beginners and more advanced young players.
