National Cherry Blossom Festival announces events lineup for highly anticipated 2025 Season! National Park Service Reveals Peak Bloom prediction as March 18-31

“This festival is one of DC’s most cherished traditions. It brings our city to life, boosts our local businesses, and showcases the very best of Washington, DC,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong Washingtonian, the National Cherry Blossom Festival is a fabulous time to come together and celebrate our city in full bloom.”

The Festival, one of the world’s greatest celebrations of spring, features well-loved signature events,

including:

● Pink Tie Party presented by Union Station Washington D.C. and Design Cuisine

○ Friday, March 14 – The pinkest soiree on the DC social calendar, where guests flaunt their best pink and floral attire on the pink carpet and experience carefully curated food and cocktails from local DC-area restaurants, music, and more.

● Opening Ceremony co-presented with The Japan Foundation

○ Saturday, March 22 – A one-night-only showcase featuring performances from world-renowned artists connected to both the U.S. and Japan, highlighting the anniversary of the 113th anniversary of the gift of trees.

● Blossom Kite Festival presented by Amazon

○ Saturday, March 29 – Thousands of kites of all shapes and sizes take flight, with the iconic monuments as their backdrop.

● Petalpalooza® presented by Chase

○ Saturday, April 5 – A day-long, interactive, outdoor celebration of music, art, and community at the Capitol Riverfront. The evening concludes with a choreographed fireworks display over the Anacostia River.

● National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade® presented by Events DC

○ Saturday, April 12 – The nation’s most beloved springtime parade fills the iconic

Constitution Avenue with blossom magic, featuring a procession of pink and petals, giant helium balloons, stunning floats, electrifying performances, and more than 3,000 participants from across the country.

Virginia Governor’s Race | Debate 2025

Voters across Virginia will get their only chance to see the two major candidates for governor share a stage this week when Democrat Abigail Spanberger and Republican Winsome Earle-Sears meet for a live, televised debate on Wednesday, October 9, at Norfolk State University. The hour-long debate, hosted by WAVY-TV 10 in partnership with WRIC-TV 8 and other Nexstar Media Group stations, is expected to reach more than four million viewers statewide. Council Misled on George Snyder Trail Cancellation Payback Terms

A vote to build the George Snyder Trail (GST) was pushed through last June despite significant community and Council opposition.  Whatever your position on the project, you may be interested to learn that the June vote was based on misinformation. Council had been told by the acting city manager and his staff, in no uncertain terms, that the City would have to pay back $3.7 million if the project was canceled. This is simply not true.
