Youth Percussion Ensemble to Present Electrifying Spring Concert Featuring Guest Star

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, the rhythm of the city will come alive as the Vienna Jammers presents its annual Big Jam, a dynamic evening of music featuring young percussionists from across the region—and a special performance by internationally acclaimed trumpeter and composer Etienne Charles.

The concert will take place at Capital One Hall, beginning at 7:00 PM, and will feature an exciting program of world rhythms, contemporary compositions, and new twists on familiar songs that highlight the talent and creativity of the next generation of percussion artists.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Etienne Charles as our guest artist this year,” said David Reynolds, Artistic Director of the ensemble. “His innovative approach to jazz, deep roots in Caribbean traditions, and magnetic stage presence will inspire our students and audience alike.”

Charles, known for his bold blend of calypso, reggae, Afro-Caribbean, and jazz, brings an international flair and world-class artistry to the stage. His collaborations with the ensemble will include special arrangements and improvisatory moments that are sure to be unforgettable.

This family-friendly event promises to be a powerful celebration of rhythm, culture, and community, showcasing both seasoned young performers and a living legend of modern jazz.
